The cost to build traffic islands amounted to EUR 773 thousand. City asked for their implementation


In the coming days will čtyřproudových Ostrava and Frýdlantská roads in the city center were built in five traffic islands. Resulting in areas of current pedestrian crossings. Traffic islands both increase pedestrian safety, but will also contribute to the slowdown of passing vehicles, bringing the total increase traffic safety on the roads, which daily passes over thirteen thousand cars.
Construction work will be divided into stages and will last until about the end of May. Simultaneously will build two islands, always in the odd order to avoid gridlock on a short section. Will begin crossing the road at a stop in Ostrava Anenská and paid parking JV Sladek. They will be followed crossing road to Ostrava huntsville space center Lidická Street and the so-called mouse hole leading to the square in Místek. Fifth starts to build a small island on the transition road Frýdlantská by tower blocks.
The cost to build traffic islands amounted to EUR 773 thousand. City asked for their implementation of a grant from the Regional Operational Programme. If the applicant receives will be 85% of the cost paid by the EU.
